UPCOMING EVENTS IN SEPTEMBER 2025

Paraty Brazil by UTMB®: trail running, Caiçara traditions and the Atlantic Forest

The 3rd edition of Paraty Brazil by UTMB® (September 18-21) will bring together more than 3,800 participants, including 42% women. The athletes involved, mainly Brazilians (73%) and South Americans (96%), will make Paraty Brazil by UTMB® a true celebration of regional trail running.

On the program, five races (100K, 50K, two 20K and one 7 km) will cross the Serra da Bocaina National Park, in the heart of the Atlantic Forest, offering participants a total immersion between tropical nature and cultural heritage.

But the event goes well beyond competition. With the Um Caiçara em Chamonix project, the organization is committed to discovering and supporting young talents from the Caiçara communities of Paraty, paving the way for them to a sporting career and transforming them into tomorrow's champions. At the same time, a partnership with women's collectives strengthens the position of women in trail running by removing specific obstacles to their practice, thanks to actions and activations planned throughout the weekend.

Environmental commitment is also at the heart of the event: contribution and trail maintenance actions are implemented to preserve the unique biome of the Atlantic forest and ensure sustainable practice. Paraty Brazil by UTMB® also promotes local employment, by recruiting staff from the region to strengthen community involvement, and highlights local producers by integrating their products into the aid stations.

The 2025 edition places a particular emphasis on youth and inclusion with the launch of Wild NextGen, a free race dedicated to young people, as well as a Next Gen Camp, a trail training camp held this summer. The event is also continuing its environmental and community commitment: a trail rehabilitation project, the involvement of 500 volunteers, and the sale of 100 charity bibs to raise funds to support four local associations.

On the sporting side, the elite field will be strong, with the presence of several leading European athletes. Julian Alps Trail Run by UTMB®: Slovenian alpine culture in the spotlight

The 5th edition of the Julian Alps Trail Run by UTMB®, 4th in the UTMB World Series (September 19-21), promises to be a landmark, with a record 4,700 participants, a 37% increase compared to 2024. Four of the six formats offered (100M, 100K, 50K, two races of 20K and 10K) are sold out. Female participation is also increasing, reaching 34% (+2 points compared to last year).

Among the notable stories is that of Aleš Svetina (SVN, UTMB Index 797), winner of the 100M in 2024, who started trail running in the 2019 edition with simple wooden poles. He returns this year to defend his title.

The organization relies on strong involvement of regional stakeholders, through partnerships with tourist offices, the mobilization of volunteer firefighters, alpine clubs, and mountain rescue units, not to mention cultural initiatives such as traditional dances and costumes at the starting lines. The event also incorporates a solidarity dimension, with donations going to local and social associations by implementing concrete initiatives supporting female participation: menstrual products available at aid stations, dedicated changing areas, and equal treatment for winners.

Finally, the event will honor the place of women in trail running with the round table "Celebrating Women", which will give voice to sports players from all walks of life - volunteers, amateurs, elites and experts - in addition to the initiatives already in place.
